It WAS a 'dark & stormy' night.....

A first entry from Sarah.... part of the 'dream team' partnership of  Goodnighties, Inc.

It was a dark and stormy night....., well no,….not really, but it might as well have been…. I was having yet another horrendous night of trying to sleep.   My nights were filled with tossing and turning sweaty-hot then ice-cold…. a real nightmare that had been going on waaay too long. 

I was depressed… ‘sleeping’ used to be the best part of my day and now I was dreading going to bed!  This had to stop!  I had to be sharp and available to cater to my children’s every whim….which means driving them everywhere and going to the ATM machine on a daily basis. 

Okay, now back to the story….   After thinking about things, my no sleep sad stories were a result of what they call, ‘hormonal fluctuation’ from…. (getting ready)…..   I’ll say it….really, I will…. taking a deep breath…… ‘AGE RELATED’…….getting closer…’SYMPTOMS OF MENOPAUSE’  OMG….  There, it’s out… I am of that age… but don’t tell my Mother because along with her own age, she still lies about mine!    We were blessed with good skin, so we can go further than most with this ruse.  

 One day I was blurry eyed and exhausted, ready to do something drastic like go back to bed and curl up into a fetal position and cry…. (just joking)… no, that’s not me, I’m the ‘Fix-it Lady’ with helpful suggestions on important things like working a toilet auger, fixing a garbage disposal or patching a ceiling before painting.  Solving my sleep problem was always in the back of my mind…With my ‘right brain’ in full gear, I was flipping through an old catalog that had something in it about ‘menopausal nightwear’…sounds sexy, huh?   Anyway, that teeny tiny mention got me thinkin’…. hmm??…. ‘I am in the target audience for this kind of sleepwear and I had never heard of such a thing before, so I began searching around on the web and very quickly the‘angels sang and brought me to Goodnighties!’… well, not exactly --- but after reading their website – I very quickly knew this was a product I was going to try.   

Almost immediately,  I ordered the pink long pants (with chocolate trim) and ¾ length sleeve top --- it arrived within a few days with a small hand written note on my Pay Pal receipt stating  that it was ‘40% off month’ hmm, another good ‘sign’ – I couldn’t believe that one…but that’s Marcia, who you will be hearing from later… (she’s wonderful). 

 I was excited to try these jammies and like the unmotivated laundry lady that I am, (I know this is bad), I just took them right out of the package and wore them that night!  (Goodnighties are 100% made in the USA so I knew it wasn’t too risky).   

My first impression was….OMG they’re made of polyester…..but I was desperate with a capital ‘D’ and didn’t know a thing about ‘moisture-wicking’ and really hadn’t paid much attention to the negative ion stuff (remember, I was tired and when in school, back in the olden days, I doodled through Science) …..

So with my new Goodnighties on, I took a chance and like magic, I woke up after THE FIRST NIGHT AND I HAD MY FIRST UNINTERRUPTED SLEEP IN YEARS!  I couldn’t freakin’ believe it!  I felt like I had had a face lift!    I immediately jumped out of bed and told my hubby that I needed to find this company—do my research- and let them know, they need me to help spread the ‘good word’!  (Oh, forgot to mention, I have 30+ years of experience in the field of Marketing & Communication, so that helped with my pitch).  So to fast-forward this long-winded blog-entry….  I made a ‘cold-call’ to Marcia… we talked – I then whipped up ideas ‘Sarah-Style’ from my office in Chicago,  and the  next thing I knew I was meeting with Marcia and her husband, David (along with my husband, Jack) in Huntsville, AL -- It was like a ‘Match.com’ for business people!

 From that meeting, it was decided that both my husband and I had the skills (he is an executive-level, sales guy) to partner with Marcia and David (who are major experts in design and apparel manufacturing) so we all brought our respective areas of expertise to ‘the table’, both figuratively and literally because we were sitting at their kitchentable!  It was ‘Southern Hospitality’ at its finest…we had a deal. 

So that’s my story… nothing less, nothing more…but what I can highlight…these jammies work!  I am like a new person from actually sleeping!  My whole family is thrilled!    From this, I have dedicated myself to helping others who are suffering like I was!    Please tell us your story – we’d love to hear from you ….!
